Entering and judging
The competition will have two stages:
Stage 1: The first stage is an open ideas competition asking designers to respond to the challenge of designing an out-of-town shopping destination for 2030 and beyond with a concept design. Full entry criteria can be found here. Entries must be submitted by Monday 9th April.
Judges from the AJ, The Crown Estate and the wider industry will shortlist entries in early April. The shortlisted entrants will be asked to present their ideas to the judging panel on 8 May in London. Six winners will be invited to take part in Stage 2.
Stage 2: Stage 2 is more practical and will take the form of a site visit to one of The Crown Estate’s shopping destinations on the 16 May, followed by a one-day charrette on 21 June, focusing on the future of that asset.
Each of the six invited practices or architects will receive a £1,000 honorarium for their time.
Winners and shortlisted entries will be published by the AJ and The Crown Estate.
The competition is free to enter.
